Electronics Design
If you need a custom circuit designed, an existing design refined, or a prototype taken through to a manufacturable PCB, this is where I come in.
Custom electronics for your product
-
Interact with the real world
Electronics that bring real-world data and hardware control to your product: temperature sensors, motor controllers, lasers, relays, Modbus, CAN, etc.
-
Analog signal processing
Analog circuit design and low-noise bipolar power supplies for sensors and audio processing, including preamps, filtering, and dynamic-range compression.
-
Noise & EMI mitigation
Designing circuits and layouts that minimise noise, crosstalk, and interference in sensitive analog signal paths.
-
Design review & SPICE simulation
Validating circuit behaviour before committing to hardware, catching issues early and saving R&D costs.
-
Production-ready PCB layout
Multi-layer PCB layout ready to hand to your contract manufacturer of choice.
How it's built
- Analog and digital circuit design
- Schematic capture and component libraries
- Multi-layer PCB layout
- Design-for-manufacture (DFM) review and handoff to a contract manufacturer
- Board bring-up and functional testing
Case studies
Thermal Dawn — Home energy systems
At Thermal Dawn, I took the early breadboard proofs of concept and designed a custom PCB to house the microcontroller, sensors, relays, and Modbus connections for their thermal storage controller. This control board played a key part in taking the system from a workshop proof of concept to a product installed in a pilot customer's home in under 2 months. Iterating quickly and learning from real customer data allowed the team at Thermal Dawn to refine the product, saving customers hundreds of dollars on their energy bills each month.
Echo Fix — Studio effects
At Echo Fix, I worked on analog and mixed-signal designs and PCB layouts for a range of products, including the EF-P5 FET Compressor, EF-X3 Record/Erase Mod, and Roland RE-201 Chorus/Vibrato Mod. I worked across the full production lifecycle including testing, calibration, QC, and repairs for production, along with prototyping, component sourcing, and contract manufacturing coordination.
Franklin Audio — Audio equipment
At Franklin Audio, I provided design reviews, simulations, and PCB layouts for some upcoming all-analog studio utility gear. I also implemented a bipolar power supply for high headroom and line-level signal handling.
Why work with me on electronics
You get direct access to an experienced electronics engineer who understands the bigger picture. I design circuits that serve the product, not just the datasheet.
